The Hour Of Code is a worldwide campaign promoted by Code.org and brought to Chile this year by Kodea (www.kodea.org) in collaboration with other institutions such as Subsecretaría de Economía from Chile’s Economy Minister and Universidad de Chile’s Department of Computer Science.

In a cheerfull ambience many children played and learnt basic concepts of computer programming joined by students of Physic Sciences and Mathematics Department at Universidad de Chile last October. The purpose of this event was the launching of The Hour Of Code, the worldwide campaign that arrived in Chile thanks to the effort and collaboration of many institutions.

Ki is one of the sponsor enterprises of The Hour Of Code and Mónica Retamal, also Kodea’s Executive Director, refered to this iniciative: " We need Chile to stop being only a consumer of technology and start being a creator of it”, she said.

Some interesting personalities that joined this campaign also attended the event with their kids; this shows the enormous potential of this worldwide movement, capable of reuniting all the social sectors. Every child not only learnt how to code but also got a diploma and nice gifts.
